Apply today to drive your career into a new direction by joining our dynamic team! DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this position, your responsibilities will involve regular maintenance tasks such as cleaning gutters, inlets, and drainage systems, as well as sweeping garages and tunnel offices.
You will also be responsible for repairing tunnel structures, painting facilities, and clearing debris from upper air-chamber floors and roof areas.
Additionally, you will be expected to maintain the grounds by picking up litter, mowing grass, and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the facilities and tunnel entrances.
Another aspect of your role will be incident management, where you will respond to any incidents that impact traffic flow.
This will involve using equipment, tools, and fire extinguishers to assist motorists and first responders in restoring normal traffic conditions.
You may need to tow or push disabled vehicles, control traffic, remove debris, and perform minor repairs on motorists' vehicles.
It will also be important for you to monitor tunnel conditions for any issues such as traffic congestion, carbon monoxide levels, fires, or over-height vehicles, and effectively communicate with PennDOT employees and first responders through phone, radio, and face-to-face interactions to ensure situational awareness is maintained. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours vary, based upon operational considerations.
Shifts can range from the following: 9:30 PM to 5:30 AM; 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM; 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch Travel, overtime and shift work required Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.
Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in roadway maintenance and repair, emergency services, towing and roadside assistance, or traffic control work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: All positions require possession of an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations. All employees must demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission. All employees must possess an active Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed, or equivalent on their first day of employment. All employees must obtain within the probationary period an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders. All positions in this job require additional certifications issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on assigned pieces of equipment during the probationary period.
