Great Lakes Energy is looking for a groundman to work out of our Beaver Island location to assist in maintaining, constructing, and providing emergency restoration of electric distribution systems.

A Day in The Life of a Groundman at GLE
Teamwork, collaboration, and professionalism are all expectations of the day-to-day lifestyle of GLE lineworkers and groundman.
Assisting with power restoration, power line construction, maintenance and repair of existing power lines and emergency call-outs are just a few of the duties that could be waiting for you.
We don't call off work for rain or snow days, so your schedule is set and reliable. As a groundman, you will play a crucial role in supporting lineworkers and ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations.
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into various manual labor tasks assigned by your crew leader.
From loading materials to digging ditches, you'll be in the thick of the action, helping to get the job done efficiently.
You'll be out in the field, patrolling transmission and distribution lines, and locating underground facilities.
You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of our service area and transmission/distribution systems.
From cooperative maps to safety manuals, you'll become an expert in all things related to our work. Ever dreamed of operating a generator facility? Here's your chance! You'll monitor, maintain, and operate our generator facility on Beaver Island, ensuring a steady power supply for our community.
You will also learn the ins and outs of electrical equipment installation, from transformers to regulators.
Your role will be essential in ensuring our equipment is installed and maintained to the highest standards.
Your responsibilities also include keeping your personal tools and company equipment in top-notch condition.
