Job Announcement

Journeyman Lineman
The Utilities Board of the City of Andalusia is accepting applications for the position of Journeyman Lineman in the Electric Department.
This position involves skilled technical work on and around high-voltage power lines.
The employee will construct new power lines, perform hot line glove work, and troubleshoot problems with all aspects of distribution electric utility operations, including voltage regulators, capacitors, and multiphase metering.
The employee should have the required skills to work during and after normal hours without direct supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of training and/or experience equivalent to: - Graduation from a standard senior high school and the completion of lineworker apprenticeship training. - Significant experience in difficult and responsible work at a journeyman level in constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electrical systems and related equipment. - Significant experience and training in handling high voltage wires are essential qualifications for this position (i.e., experience in Line Worker I and II classification). - Trained with at least 2 years of experience in fiber optic cable installation. - Trained and at least 3 years of experience in applying NESC code to work situations. - At least 5 to 6 years of experience in hotline work. - Trained in high voltage line switching procedures. - Certification or equivalent experience needed to repair three phase power banks and multi-phase metering. - Must possess a valid Class A CDL drivers license.
ENTRY LEVEL SALARY RANGE:
