MEO / Maintenance Man Department: DPW / Flood Control Employment Status: UFCW Laborers Union, Non-Exempt; Full-Time (40 Hours) Salary: Grade 5L, Step 05 - $18.31/Hour + License Schedule: Mon-Fri - 7:00AM - 3:30PM Certifications/Licenses Required: MA Class B CDL License SUMMARY The City of Chicopee's Department of Public Works - Flood Control Division is hiring a MEO - Maintenance Worker to assist in the operations, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of all Flood Control and WPC facilities, including but not limited to flood control pump stations, levees, and flood walls.
Performs all related duties to properly operate and maintain the flood protection system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE: Operates pumps, motors, and electrical equipment, power tools, mowers tractors, motor vehicles.
Clean, lubricate, maintain, compressors, vehicles, works with preventative maintenance program and related tasks. Cleans buildings, washes windows, and empties trash cans.
Works as needed in all DPW divisions as needed; WPC-pump station and collection system work, and coordination between the departments will be required on a daily basis.
Purchases supplies and materials according to City purchasing procedures.
Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines, and mower.
Drives truck and loads fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck and delivers to disposal location.
Other duties as assigned per the full job description. QUALIFICATIONS Massachusetts Class B CDL License - Required High School Diploma or Equivalent OR one (1) year of related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
