We are seeking a reliable and experienced Mechanic to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot a wide range of equipment used in sod production and transportation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, experience with agricultural and heavy equipment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
This role is critical to ensuring our tractors, harvesters, semi trucks, trailers, loaders, excavators, and other machinery operate efficiently during peak seasons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on sod farm equipment, including tractors, sod harvesters, irrigation systems, and small engines. - Service and repair semi trucks and trailers used to haul our sod products. - Maintain and troubleshoot heavy equipment such as loaders and excavators. - Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues across all equipment types. - Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan. - Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts inventory, and service schedules. - Collaborate with farm operators and drivers to prioritize equipment needs and address urgent repairs. - Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper handling of tools and machinery. - Assist with minor facility repairs as needed.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a mechanic, with expertise in agricultural equipment, heavy machinery, and semi trucks/trailers. - Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. - Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics. - Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. - Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. - Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus. - Welding or fabrication skills are an advantage but not required. - High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. - Comfortable standing, bending, and working on equipment for extended periods.
