Under the general supervision of the Chief of Water, this position is responsible for operating and maintaining vehicles and equipment, and performing laborer tasks necessary to the operations to the Water Division. Operates light motor equipment such as trucks and snowplows. Operates equipment and assists in the installation of curb stops, water lines, hydrants, and other components of the water system. Transports personnel and materials. Performs laborer or semi-skilled laborer tasks. Performs maintenance or light manual tasks when not operating vehicles; Performs other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one year of related experience operating vehicles and equipment commonly used in excavation and construction, to include routine vehicle maintenance; or a combination of substantially equivalent education and experience. Licenses or Certificates Required: Must possess a Class B Rhode Island Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
Must also possess, or obtain within one year of appointment, a State of Rhode Island Class 1D Distribution License. All applicants will be subject to a drivers license check for last two years and a background criminal check.
