Description:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsible for directing the day to day activities of the external and internal dump truck drivers in the asphalt division.
Secures required trucking resources to meet daily asphalt delivery needs to internal asphalt paving jobs.
Creates, adjusts, and communicates daily trucking schedule, utilizing Fleetwatcher logistics management system.
Provides management, analytical and administrative support to the paving and mobile equipment operations.
Calculates number of trucks required to haul asphalt from mix plant according to capacity of vehicles, traffic conditions, distance from work site, and productivity of drivers.
Manages trucking performance with internal and external drivers/carriers.
Reviews logistical KPI’s and addresses opportunities to improve performance, safety, and costs.
Manages internal lowboy trailer drivers and schedules equipment moves to establish timely delivery of paving equipment to required areas of work.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
+ Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safetypolicies in all work environments and areas.
Ensures timely delivery of Asphalt to job sites by a fleet of dump trucks as well aspaving equipment for same.
+ Responsible for directing the day to day activities of the internal dump truck drivers and lowboy trailer drivers.
Secures appropriate number of external (third party) trucks to meet asphalt delivery needs.
+ Uses Fleetwatcher software program to establish daily trucking schedule, adjust schedule, observe and manage trucking performance, help solve logistical bottlenecks/problems, and evaluate/share logistical KPI’s.
+ Drives productivity, reduces costs, builds motivation and improves morale within the department.
+ Prevents and resolves problems involving individuals which arise out of or affect worksituations.
+ Motivates employees to highest potential and builds effective teams.
+ Promotes positive and cooperative attitudes to ensure company and customersatisfaction
+ Communicates and promotes safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards.
Monitors work performed and addresses situations that do not conform to standards.
+ Track preventative maintenance of trucks and keep trucks out on repairs to aminimum
+ Reports all safety incidents via Company protocols, and ensures all employees underpurview adhere to incident reporting protocols.Other duties as assigned.
+ Comply with transportation related policies including FMCSA, DOT hours of service,safe ty rules and other government regulations.
+ Dispatch and communicate with ITO's
+ Process daily virtual shift tickets for payment.
+ Process drivers time sheets.
+ Manage/dispatch/track equipment mobilizations.
+ Verify ITO compliance in Avetta.
+ Additional daily activities as they may be needed or apply.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS
+ Reports to Operations Manager, Contracting
+ Works daily with Construction Manager, Superintendents for Paving, Site Preparation, and Patching Crews, Estimating Team, Contracting Administrative Support, Mobile Equipment Shop staff, Divisional Management.
+ Supervises Internal Drivers for Lowboys and dump trucks.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School diploma/GED
Additional Education Preferred: Associates/Undergraduate Degree a plus, or equivalent
industry experience.
Field of Study Preferred: logistics/supply chain management or related field.
Previous supervisory skills preferred,
Minimum 3 years industry experience in Asphalt paving, Asphalt production, bulk materials transportation management, or related fields.
Minimum of three years of experience supervising employees in an industrialenvironment or the trucking industry.
Commercial Driving License: Required Training/Certifications:
Licenses Preferred: CDL
Required Computer and Software Skills: Fleetwatcher or other logistics management software a plus, basic office software skills (Excel and Word).
Ability to learn internal software systems like SAP and delivery ticketing system.

+ Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators.
Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be
+ clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
